First Reconciliation and First Communion
at Good ShepherdWelcome Parents!
Please note there is a small fee requested to offset the cost of materials and events that are provided for all Good Shepherd Sacrament families. This may be submitted online here, or other arrangements may be made. See below.
Formation to celebrate Reconciliation and receive Communion for the first time is a very significant step in your child's faith journey, and is an opportunity for the whole family to grow in faith and deepen our own encounters with Jesus in the Sacraments. While your child's "academic" preparation for the Sacraments will occur in a variety of ways (weekly classes at the parish, during religion class at Trinity, or within homeschool co-op), other aspects of formation occur within the parish community. These include a Parent Meeting and Parent Course for each Sacrament, participating in family prayer opportunities, a teaching on the Mass, the First Communion Festival, and of course celebrating the Sacraments themselves here at Good Shepherd. We are so excited to accompany your family during this special year.
First Reconciliation Parent Meeting and Parent Course are coming up at the beginning of October. These are two separate gatherings, one week apart. We recognize how busy your families are (ours are too!), so we offer multiple options for each and babysitting is offered. ALL families are expected to participate and we encourage both parents to attend. Please view and select the options and submit this RSVP form by September 30th.
