Bishop Wack has called our diocese to the Restored Order of the Sacraments of Initiation. Beginning in fall 2028, Confirmation and First Holy Communion will be celebrated together with younger children at the same Mass. In preparation, each parish has been asked to develop a plan for Confirming children who already receive the Eucharist.
We're excited to share that current 5th and 6th graders at Good Shepherd will begin Confirmation formation in spring 2026—just a few months away! Formation will include parent meetings, youth and family catechesis, a retreat day, and more. For this group, Confirmation catechesis will be built into their CFF classes this program year beginning September 2025.
Families seeking Confirmation are expected to be active in the faith—attending Sunday Mass, celebrating Reconciliation regularly, and participating in faith formation (parish CFF, Catholic school, or Catholic homeschool co-op).
Our CFF classes for 5th and 6th graders are separated into:
Girls: Blaze Belong Bible Study for preteens
Boys: Ignite study for preteens Both groups will also complete Altaration (a study of the Mass) and 4–5 Confirmation sessions in spring 2026.
CFF Registration has been reopened for families with 5th and 6th graders only. (We will resume registration for all families in early September.) Spots in 5/6 classes are very limited for Sunday afternoons, several remain Sunday mornings, and plenty are available Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Click here to request a link and password to register.
For Trinity and SHHE Homeschool families, sessions for Confirmation catechesis will be offered separately, around the same time the CFF classes do them in the spring. These are not yet scheduled, but will be announced here as plans come together.
We know you’ll have questions—many of which we are still working through! Check this page for the latest updates. For questions about grades 6 and under, email Diana at [email protected] (thank you for your patience).
